Alchemy Apps - Strategy-First Software Consulting

From Frustration to over 10k Downloads on 1st Day

When T.REX ARMS set out to build the Range Day app, they quickly realized the road ahead would be challenging. They began with a large agency but soon discovered their project wasn’t getting the focus it needed. On top of that, the platform they were using couldn’t deliver on one of the most critical features: offline capability. For shooters training in remote ranges with little or no cell service, offline access wasn’t optional—it was essential.

Despite having a massive built-in audience of about 1.8 million YouTube subscribers across multiple channels, T.REX ARMS felt overlooked. Distribution was not their problem—they already had the audience and a clear need. What they lacked was the right support to turn their vision into reality. Assigned to a junior developer at a Gold Tier Bubble agency, their project stalled, leaving them frustrated and searching for alternatives. Research led them to discussions of backend platforms like Xano and custom code solutions, but none offered the reliability they needed for offline functionality. This search eventually brought them to Alchemy Apps.

At Alchemy Apps, we listened closely and reimagined the solution. Bubble and Xano are strong platforms, but offline storage and syncing remained a limitation. Instead, we recommended FlutterFlow paired with Supabase. This allowed us to integrate an SQLite database for offline data storage and syncing, while also embedding media directly into the app for offline access. The result was a fully functional app that users could rely on—even in areas with no connectivity. By giving the project the attention it deserved, we ensured that T.REX ARMS not only had a working product but a partner who understood their mission.

The impact was immediate. Within 24 hours of launch, Range Day saw more than 10,000 downloads and ranked as high as #14 in the Sports category, competing alongside apps from ESPN, NFL, NBA, and DraftKings. With a 4.9-star rating from over 50 users, the app proved to be exactly what firearm enthusiasts were looking for: a reliable, structured, and user-focused training tool that works anywhere.

Range Day is more than just an app—it’s a solution built for shooters, by shooters, with a development team that put customer needs first. And while we still believe Bubble and Xano are powerful platforms, this project shows that platform choice should never outweigh user requirements. For T.REX ARMS, FlutterFlow and Supabase were the right fit, and the results speak for themselves.
