Bubble.io and Samsara API Solves Client Problem

Our client aimed to harness the extensive data from Samsara - a platform adept in GPS and operational data management for heavy-duty equipment like trucks and cranes, to refine their internal repair and maintenance processes. Samsara's API, brimming with valuable data including location, fuel consumption, safety sensors, and fault code information, gleaned from on-board vehicle computers and field apps, was the linchpin for this initiative.

The essence of our solution was the seamless integration of maintenance APIs, which provided insights into defects reported by employees or triggered by vehicle sensors. Utilizing Bubble’s API connector, we established a flawless sync with Samsara's APIs. This entailed mapping unique identifiers from Samsara to the corresponding vehicles in our Bubble database, facilitating real-time data transfer like mileage, hours of service, and unresolved defects and faults to the client's mobile app.

The impact of this integration significantly helped the maintenance workflow. Mechanics now have a streamlined interface to view all vehicles, select a specific one, and explore the details of any defects or faults. They can seamlessly create work orders, as mandated by the Department of Transportation, to document the resolution of these issues. This innovation marked a substantial improvement from the previous cumbersome process, where mechanics had to switch between Samsara and the work order system, manually inputting data.

Our solution eradicated this inefficiency by channeling pertinent data from Samsara into work tickets within the Bubble app, smoothening the workflow for mechanics. Post repairs, mechanics can update the status of defects and faults, with this data being relayed back to Samsara for accurate record-keeping and compliance.
