Alchemy Apps ("we," "our," or "us") built Ember Fasting as a privacy-first intermittent fasting timer. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
The short version: Your data stays on your device. We don't collect it, we don't sell it, and we don't have a server to store it on.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Ember Fasting does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or account credentials (there are no accounts)
- Location data
- Health or biometric data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
- Crash reports or diagnostics
We use zero third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising frameworks.
Data Stored on Your Device
Ember Fasting stores the following data locally on your device to provide core functionality:
- Fasting sessions — start times, end times, duration, and protocol type
- Preferences — selected fasting protocol, theme, notification settings, and app icon choice
- Streak data — consecutive fasting day counts
- Widget data — a lightweight snapshot of your current fasting state, shared between the app and its widgets via Apple's App Group mechanism
This data never leaves your device. It is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework (SQLite) and App Group UserDefaults.
In-App Purchases
Ember Fasting offers optional Pro subscriptions and a lifetime purchase. All transactions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. We do not receive or store your payment information, Apple ID, or transaction details on any server. Purchase verification happens on-device.
Notifications
Ember Fasting uses local notifications only (e.g., fasting complete, daily reminders). These are scheduled on your device and do not involve any remote push notification service or server.
Third-Party Services
Ember Fasting uses no third-party services. The only external communication is between the app and Apple's App Store for processing in-app purchases, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Ember Fasting is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since the app collects no data from anyone, this applies by default.
Future Updates
Future versions may introduce optional features such as iCloud sync, HealthKit integration, or Apple Watch support. If and when these features are added:
- iCloud sync will use your personal iCloud account. Data syncs between your devices only and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms.
- HealthKit integration will require your explicit permission and will only read/write the specific data types you authorize.
- This policy will be updated before any such features are released.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
